Q: How to create AIT guest account?
A:

As earlier announced, to enhance security and abuse prevention, we implement a single use of user authentication for Internet access, starting from 17 May 2010. The purpose of this is, a single user account cannot simultaneously be used by several computers to access Internet. If you need additional user accounts for more computers, you can create a maximum of 5 active guest accounts, each of them with validity of up to 12 hours, from the following interface https://guestdb.ait.ac.th and login using your AIT email account. Faculty & staff can request Helpdesk to be allowed to create guest accounts with longer validity (up to 6 months) by emailing his/her request to Helpdesk specifying the reason of the request.

Therefore, please logout every time you finish accessing Internet from a computer. If you do not logout, but then want to use another computer to access Internet using the same account, you have to first logout using any computer from https://auth-gw.ait.ac.th/auth/logoutpage.pl

Q: How to identify Spam/Phishing mails?
A:

Phishing emails are messages sent by individuals trying to “fish” for personal or financial information. Phishers are getting better every day at making their messages look authentic. There are two types of phishing emails:

1. Emails that ask you to reply to the message with confidential information, such as your user ID and password. Never respond to any email with confidential information.
2. Emails that ask you to click on a link to a web page, which then asks you to provide confidential information. Many times these web pages look like legitimate sites, such as Bank of America or PayPal, but they are not. When you provide your user ID and password, this information is captured by the phisher, who can then use it to log into the legitimate site.

Q: What to do if you get a phishing email?
A: 1. Send any phishing emails you receive, including its full header information, to helpdesk@ait.asia or helpdesk@ait.ac.th
2.  Never respond to any email with confidential information.
3. Never respond to any email with confidential information. UH and other legitimate businesses will never ask for this information via email.
Q: How to protect yourself from phishing email?
A:

Here are some best practices that will help protect you and your information:

1. Beware of messages that claim your account has been suspended.
2. Beware of messages that claim your account has been suspended.
3. Never click on a link in an email. Instead, always type the legitimate Web address of the site you want to reach directly into your Web browser.
4. Keep your anti-virus software up to date.
5. Change your password in every 45 days for better security.
6. Report any suspicious emails to AIT ITSU Helpdesk.

Q: Has Windows operating system a built-in antivirus software?
A:

Yes, if your computer is running Windows 8 or later, you can use the built-in Windows Defender to help you get rid of viruses, spyware, or other malware.

If your computer is running Windows 7 or Windows Vista, Windows Defender only removes spyware. To get rid of viruses and other malware, including spyware, on Windows 7 or Windows Vista, download Microsoft Security Essentials from the following URL:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14210/security-essentials-download  for free, and then install it.

In both cases you have to enable automatic Windows Update.
